Kauppi Stadium in Tampere

Metallipalvelu Hartikainen Oy delivered, installed and handled the project management in its largest EN1090 EXC-3 steel structure delivery – 850 tons of load bearing steel structures in total. The total delivery time was about 4 months.

The city of Tampere made the final decision on the new skiing and baseball stadium last fall 2021. The decision was spurred by the great success of both the women’s and men’s Finnish baseball teams in the 2021 season. The design of the stadium was started after the decision was made and the tenders were sent early the following year. The contract was won by Alasen Rakennus Ltd, which acted as the main contractor, for which Metallipalvelu Hartikainen Oy supplied the steel structures, installation and project management.

The schedule was really tight, as evidenced by the fact that in the spring at the end of April 2022, the project management started their actions at the installation site. Actions were therefore taken actively and 850 tons of steel structure could be delivered for installation from the middle of May. The project management was able to tighten the speed of installation in the last weeks so that the handover was successful in Midsummer’s week in accordance with the dead-line.

Baseball’s Itä-Länsi Event (East-West Games) were played on July 9-10, 2022, and the 100th anniversary event got a stadium it deserved. The best players of the season played in the East-West Event according to the geographical division. At the previous day, a men’s national league game between Manse PP and Sotkamo Jymy was played, which attracted a large crowd.

The first Finnish Championship skiing of 2023 will be contested at the Kauppi Stadium on January 20-21. Finnish Cup points are also awarded in the games. In the Tampere Skiing Championship, Finnish championships are competed for in freestyle skiing pair sprints and 10 km timed starts, as well as classic skiing style sprints.
