Kauppi Stadium

Tampere

Metallipalvelu Hartikainen Oy delivered, installed and project managed the largest ever delivery of EN1090 EXC-3 structural steel – 850 tonnes of structural steel in total. The total delivery time was approximately 4 months.

The City of Tampere made the final decision on the new ski and baseball stadium last autumn 2021, driven by the excellent performance of Manse in both the men’s and women’s seasons in 2021. The stadium design was launched after the decision and tenders were sent out early the following year. The contract was awarded to Alasen Rakennus Oy as main contractor, with Metallipalvelu Hartikainen Oy supplying the steel structures, installation and project management.

The schedule was very tight, as evidenced by the fact that the project management team started at the installation site in the spring of April 2022. The work was therefore actively pursued and 850 tonnes of structural steelwork could be delivered for installation from mid-May onwards. The project management was able to step up the pace of installation in the final weeks, so that the handover was completed on target during the Midsummer week.

Baseball’s East-West matches were played from 9-10 July 2022 and the 100th anniversary event received a worthy stadium. The day before, Manse PP and Sotkamo Jymyn met in a men’s league match, which attracted a large crowd.

The first 2023 World Ski Championships will be held at Kaupi Stadium on 20-21 January, and points will also be awarded in the Finnish Cup. At the Tampere World Ski Championships, the Finnish champions will compete in the free skiing pair sprint and 10 km intermediate races, as well as in the traditional skiing sprints.
